Function / Content

This series consists of calculation books kept by surveyors or draftsmen to determine the accuracy of boundary surveys and the area of surveyed blocks. NTRS 2425/P1 contains books identified by the individual's initals (first and last name, and where used, middle initial) and sequential numbering pattern. The pages inside the books are divided into the following columns: bearing, distance, N [North], S [South], E [East], W [West], D.L., and Double Areas (North & South). Two books, MISC13 and MISC14 (box no.36), are labelled Department of Services and Property, Brisbane, N.T. Unit. This relates to the post-Cyclone Tracy arrangements for the survey staff. All books in boxes 38 and 39 are bound computer printouts. NTRS 2425/P2 consists of notes and loose pages from a calculation book, including measurements used to check pastoral lease calculations. This government record was transferred by William Easton.
